Best of Wilmington 2026 - Recreation & Fitness

We know we’re lucky to live in a place where recreation is rarely confined to a gym. It happens on bikes and boats, in local parks, along the Riverwalk, on the water and in the steady routines that help people feel stronger in their everyday lives.

Great Outdoor Provision Co. has long helped residents prepare for those adventures, whether that means kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking or discovering a new trail close to home. As Marketing and Sportswear Manager Leah Bradley has said, “Our staff live and breathe the outdoors,” offering the kind of local knowledge that helps customers feel ready to explore.

When the gym does apply, the best in fitness comes in the form of belonging. At MissionFit Strength Studio, owner Jeff Washington describes a locally owned, veteran-owned gym built around coaching, accountability and community, where the goal is not only physical change but “lasting, life-changing impact.”

On the water, Bradley Creek Yacht Club carries its own sense of community. General Manager Jonathan Crews says the marina is built on “customer satisfaction and building relationships,” creating what he calls a “unique and family-like place” for members.
