Our five highlights from this issue’s calendar of events

Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta and Festival
Sep 12–13

Celebrate the vibrant Dragon Boat Regatta and Festival in Carolina Beach. Form your own team or register as a single rower to join one of the long, colorful watercraft. Festivities begin Friday evening with a free outdoor kickoff concert. On Saturday, enjoy the races from the Carolina Beach Marina, browse vendor booths, and sample food and drinks as you cheer teams toward the finish line. This family-friendly event promises plenty of fun both on and off the water. Additional details will be announced closer to the date.

Enchanting Secret Wine Garden at Perennial Harbor
Sept 25-28, Oct 15-19

Discover this hidden gem just a short walk from historic downtown in the eclectic Soda Pop District. A collaborative effort by plant enthusiasts, the garden opens for four days each month, featuring food trucks, beer and wine, live music, and workshops on plants and flowers. Relax in the thoughtfully designed native plant garden, complete with shaded seating and swing chairs. Come for a drink, stay for the atmosphere, and enjoy a unique community gathering space.

 

Wilmington Coffee Fest
Sep 26–27

Celebrate all things coffee with some of Wilmington’s finest roasters, shops, and bakers at Azalea Station in the Cargo District. The expanded 2025 festival offers twice as many vendors, plus industry seminars, food trucks, and live music. Friday features Pro Day (9 a.m.–3 p.m.), a ticketed Coffee Cocktail Showdown, and a free Latte Art Throwdown, where baristas and mixologists compete for top honors. Saturday offers tastings, demonstrations, and plenty of opportunities to discover your next favorite brew. Plan ahead—this popular event is expected to sell out.

Art in the Arboretum
Oct 10–12

Experience art and nature together as more than 90 North Carolina artists display their work throughout the seven-acre gardens of the New Hanover County Arboretum. Browse sculptures, jewelry, ceramics, photographs, and more. Don’t miss the Friday night ticketed event, Sip, Savor and Shop. Rain dates are set for October 17 and 19. Pleasure Island Restaurant Week
Oct 11–18

Savor the flavors of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach during this weeklong culinary celebration. Dozens of local chefs will offer special prix fixe menus and dishes at exclusive prices. It’s the perfect opportunity to sample the area’s coastal cuisine and discover your next favorite restaurant. Details will be announced closer to the date.
