Location: Airlie Gardens, a 67-acre historic public garden in New Hanover County that showcases natural beauty while preserving the area’s history through cultural and environmental programs. With origins dating to the early 1700s and shaped by Sarah and Pembroke Jones in the late 1800s, the gardens were purchased and restored by the county in 1999 with community support. Today, Airlie welcomes more than 200,000 visitors each year, hosts 4,000+ students, and offers signature events and weekday guided tours by reservation.
